Top positive review. Reviewed in the United States on August 31, Wrote up a long detailed review but Chromebook crashed and it was lost, oh well. I'll just keep it short in case it crashes again. Notes on assembly: the screws for the side panels screw in from behind the panels, not the front. If so, swap them left and right. Fan speed and timer mode settings don't display the current setting, they only show briefly when you change the setting, so if you just want to confirm it then you have to change it, and cycle around until it gets back to the original setting.
It can be set on a timer with a smart outlet, as it will come back up in the same mode setting after outlet power is restored. You could have the timer switch it on an hour before you get home, but you have to know your schedule then. With an external timer or smart plug, it's more flexible. Measured Decibel readings showed it to be decently quiet, and no unusual noises.
Installed using Insulfoam EPS insulation board from Home Depot, works very well as a waterproof base support to protect the window sill. Received with a dent in the bottom rear frame, enough to contact the condenser fins, but it's fairly minor compared to the other reports of wholesale damage. Works much better than the Whynter portable AC unit with 12, BTU rating, which doesn't cool as well as this one, and doesn't work to remove humidity. With this LG, humidity was brought down rapidly as it should be.
Bonus that it's a third of the price to boot. Top critical review. Especially on Amazon. Neglecting necessary maintenance ensures a steady decline in air conditioning performance while energy use steadily increases. The most important maintenance task that will ensure the efficiency of your air conditioner is to routinely replace or clean its filters.
Clogged, dirty filters block normal airflow and reduce a system's efficiency significantly. With normal airflow obstructed, air that bypasses the filter may carry dirt directly into the evaporator coil and impair the coil's heat-absorbing capacity. For central air conditioners, filters are generally located somewhere along the return duct's length. Common filter locations are in walls, ceilings, furnaces, or in the air conditioner itself.
Room air conditioners have a filter mounted in the grill that faces into the room. Some types of filters are reusable; others must be replaced. They are available in a variety of types and efficiencies.

Clean or replace your air conditioning system's filter or filters every month or two during the cooling season. Filters may need more frequent attention if the air conditioner is in constant use, is subjected to dusty conditions, or you have fur-bearing pets in the house. The air conditioner's evaporator coil and condenser coil collect dirt over their months and years of service. A clean filter prevents the evaporator coil from soiling quickly.
In time, however, the evaporator coil will still collect dirt. This dirt reduces airflow and insulates the coil, reducing its ability to absorb heat.
To avoid this problem, check your evaporator coil every year and clean it as necessary. Outdoor condenser coils can also become very dirty if the outdoor environment is dusty or if there is foliage nearby. You can easily see the condenser coil and notice if dirt is collecting on its fins. You should minimize dirt and debris near the condenser unit. Your dryer vents, falling leaves, and lawn mower are all potential sources of dirt and debris. Cleaning the area around the coil, removing any debris, and trimming foliage back at least 2 feet 0.
The aluminum fins on evaporator and condenser coils are easily bent and can block airflow through the coil. Air conditioning wholesalers sell a tool called a "fin comb" that will comb these fins back into nearly original condition. Occasionally pass a stiff wire through the unit's drain channels. Clogged drain channels prevent a unit from reducing humidity, and the resulting excess moisture may discolor walls or carpet.
At the start of each cooling season, inspect the seal between the air conditioner and the window frame to ensure it makes contact with the unit's metal case. Moisture can damage this seal, allowing cool air to escape from your house. In the winter, either cover your room air conditioner or remove and store it. Covering the outdoor unit of a central air conditioner will protect the unit from winter weather and debris. When your air conditioner needs more than regular maintenance, hire a professional service technician.
A well-trained technician will find and fix problems in your air conditioning system. Skip to main content. Replacing or cleaning air conditioner filters is a critical maintenance task.Performing regular maintenance on your air conditioner can help to ensure that your unit continues to perform at its best!
Select the type of air conditioner you have from the tabs below for maintenance information:. Warning: Before attempting any maintenance on your AC unit, power the unit off and unplug it from the electrical receptacle. Check the air filter at least twice a month to see if cleaning is necessary. Trapped particles in the filter can build up and block the airflow that can reduce cooling capacity and cause an accumulation of frost on the evaporator. To ensure continued peak efficiency the evaporator coils inside behind front grille and condenser coils outside of the unit should be checked periodically and cleaned if they've become dirty or clogged with soot.
Evaporator Coils: Remove the front grill, use a brush attachment with a vacuum cleaner to clean up any dust or debris that has made it past the air filter. If you are cleaning the coils after the air conditioner has already been running, put the unit in fan mode for about an hour in order to allow any condensed moisture on the evaporator coils to dry.
Condenser Coils: If possible, use a brush attachment with a vacuum cleaner to remove any dirt or debris that has build up from the outside. If using the vacuum isn't an option, you can also use a hose pipe to clean the condenser coils. Remove any garden sprayer attachments and allow the water to flow directly from the end of the hose down over the coils to wash away dirt and debris. Note: The fins are sharp so take care when cleaning them.
Do NOT bend the fins. If this happens accidentally you can purchase a fin comb from a local hardware store. The fin comb can be used to straighten any bent fins. When it comes to keeping the case of the AC looking new and clean, just follow these simply guidelines. The front grille and inlet grille may be wiped with a cloth dampened in a mild detergent solution.
Note: Before attempting any maintenance on your AC unit other than the "Auto Clean" mode, power the unit off and unplug it from the electrical receptacle. The air filter should be cleaned every two weeks. Depending on indoor air quality, more frequent cleaning may be needed. A dirty air filter will decrease airflow and reduce efficiency. Use a vacuum cleaner attachment to clean the filter. If the filter is heavily soiled, it can be washed in warm water using a mild detergent. With the LG V window air conditioner installed in your home, the outdoor heat has no chance of entering your home, office or school room.
The rotary compressor keeps pumping in cool air consistently, while the removable filter keeps allergens, pollutants and dust mites at bay. Set the hour timer to automatically turn off the AC when the correct temperature is reached and enjoy a pleasant atmosphere in every corner.
I bought this unit about a month ago, when my central air went out. It is summertime in the deep south, so no air means there will be suffering. However, I toughed it out long enough to put the unit together and install it. My living room was 92 degrees when I turned on the air conditioning so I didn't expect much relief right away. After about 90 minutes at 60 degrees it cooled the room down and by the next day I had to raise the temperature because I was freezing. This unit exceeded my expectations, and now keeps the living room and kitchen livable until the ac repair folks can get here.
I am an old woman on disability, and this was my first installation of anything since my husband died.
The weight of the product was a bit much, but this old bird got through it and I'm a cool granny now. Two warm nights and set my ac down to Will not go below Why then does the manual say you can cool down to 60 when it doesn't? This little window unit has cooled off twice the area it? Loved the product so replaced it with the same.
Wish I did have a picture to share. Purchased few days ago. Replaced a 50 inch i had. Easy to set up. Love the remote with voice assistant. Color and clarity are magnificent. Price is reasonable. I am not sure where water is going out from the AC. I have another BTU that throws a lot water. I wonder if it is going inside the wall or does it do something special and recycle the water inside. If I remove the unit from wall, there is water. Skip Navigation Kmart home.
