This switch fits early Suzuki FI models up to that feature the 4 four pin connector. This mode will let you to access the Fi error codes, troubleshoot Fi problems and adjust the throttle position sensor TPS. The SmartMoto dealer mode switch comes with new waterproof design!

It can be installed permanently on the motorcycle with our fully waterproof installation kit through a 6mm hole or at any fixed point with a cable tie. The switch connects to the wiring harness via an OEM sealed connector.

Connection is found under the rear seat. It is a white four pins female connector with a black rubber dust cap. Uncap the connector and connect the switch on this connector. To use the switch you need to turn the ignition on and then turn the tool switch on, the TPS bar and the memorized Fi error codes will be displayed on the LCD screen of the motorcycle. When your FI light comes on what do you do? Underneath your seat there's a white capped plug. You can either remove cap which makes it easier or leave it on doesn't matter.

When FI light comes on use a piece of wire and jump the two wires listed in below pic. If leaving cap on insert wires all the way thru plug to wire terminals to make a connection. Once this is done turn ignition on and start bike to display error code on gauge pod. Anyway heres the pics. First pic shows cap still on with wire inserted correctly. Second pic shows plug with cap off. Third pic is error code showing on my dash -C27 Fourth is list of error codes.

The key must be on, but it does not matter if the bike is running or not. If the FI light is not on then "C00" will be displayed, as there are no codes present. The ecu does not store trouble codes. If the FI light only flashes or comes on occasionally, then leave the jumper while in while you ride the bike.

That way "C" and the corresponding 2 digit trouble code will be displayed as the light flashes, or is temporarily on.

This will not harm the ecu or any of the bike. Make sure you have no bare wire and it is seated well into the plug before you ride it with the jumper in. Otherwise you can cause a short if the bare wire grounds on any metal.

Of course, this is only my conclusion since neither Suzuki or Mikuni will acknowledge me. The redesigned units do fail, but far less frequently and for a different reason.

The direct testing below works for all the similar designs for the STVA, but the wiring tests are specific to the models. The cool thing about the is that the STVA doesn't have to be removed to do it. All of the fuel injected bikes have a self diagnostic system that will detect and identify the problem. There's some disagreement among those in the GSX-R community about the meaning. Personally, I believe the light is the fault indicator and FI is to mean that the fault is a fuel injection fault.

You can lose oil pressure and the light will come on, but it won't display FI. So that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. If you look under the drivers seat, back behind the fuses and relays is a white plug with 6 ports.

Only 4 of the 6 are actually used. Along with the code, you see a dash to the left "-C28". When everything is working good, the code reads "-C00". The dash is actually used to easily calibrate the throttle position sensor TPS.

In the middle, it's just right. The picture below is what a healthy bike will display. The light and oil indicator are on because the engine is not running and therefore has no oil pressure. On a running engine, both the red LED and oil can icon will not be present.
